Garbanzol is a flavonoid derivative that belongs to the class of acetate extract. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of two enzymes, including protocatechuic acid and cation channel. Garbanzol also inhibits lipid peroxidation and oxidative injury in wild-type mice. This drug has shown to be a potent inhibitor of flavonol synthase, which may account for its biological function. The stability of garbanzol has been shown to be higher than that of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is often used as a control in this type of experiment.
