Informação sobre produto
9-(Bromomethyl)acridine (9-BMA) is a fluorescent molecule that has been used as a probe for the identification of fatty acids, with an acyl chain length between 10 and 20 carbon atoms. It is also an important reagent in biological studies, such as the investigation of the mechanism of action of antidepressant drugs. 9-BMA was first synthesized in 1884 by German chemist Richard Willstätter. The compound is used as a starting material to synthesize other chemicals, such as trifluoromethanesulfonate (TMS). In analytical chemistry, TMS can be used to modify glycerides into fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs), which are then analysed using gas chromatography (GC). GC analysis allows for the detection of individual fatty acids in a sample, which may then be used to determine dietary habits. The FAMEs can also be analysed using linear regression analysis to determine their molecular weight
