It binds to the virus' receptor, thereby preventing it from binding to a host cell. 2BC has been shown to be effective against skin cancer cells by inhibiting their proliferation. This heterocyclic compound has fluorescence resonance energy transfer properties and can be used as a marker for DNA double strand breaks in cells.
