2-Chloro-1-phenylethan-1-ol is an organic compound that belongs to the group of amides. It is a crosslinking agent. 2-Chloro-1-phenylethan-1-ol reacts with hydrogen ions and sodium salts in a reaction solution to form an amide. The amide can be used as a sealant for crosslinking purposes. The active enzymes are denatured by the presence of hydrochloric acid, leading to the formation of an inactive product. 2-Chloro-1-phenylethan-1-ol has been shown to inhibit fatty acid synthesis and promote fatty acid oxidation, which may be due to its ability to bind to fatty acids and other aromatic hydrocarbons.
