Silver Thiocyanate is a complex of silver and thiocyanate. It has been shown to be effective against bacterial cells by inhibiting their growth. This inhibition is due to the formation of a particle that disrupts the cell membrane, which leads to cell death. The synthesis of Silver Thiocyanate can be achieved through two methods: 1) reaction with silver nitrate and sodium thiosulfate, or 2) reaction with silver nitrate and sodium thiocyanate. The first method produces a white precipitate while the second method produces a yellow precipitate. The x-ray diffraction data obtained from sephadex g-100 indicated that the particle size was approximately 10 nm in diameter.
