1,1-Diphenyl-1-butene is a glycerin derivative that is used as a solid catalyst in organic synthesis. It is a high molecular weight substance that has been shown to be chemically stable, even under acidic conditions. 1,1-Diphenyl-1-butene is used as an imaging agent for fatty acids and has also been used as an acid catalyst for the synthesis of fatty acids with functional groups.
