2-Bromobutyryl bromide is a monomer that can be used in the synthesis of amines. This chemical is a byproduct of the refluxing of amines. The optical properties of this molecule are dependent on the presence or absence of substituents. 2-Bromobutyryl bromide is also used to prepare cyclohexane rings through cross-coupling reactions with organometallic compounds. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Trichophyton rubrum, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. This compound has also been shown to have fatty acid ester, chloride, and bifunctional properties. The morphology and asymmetric synthesis of this compound are dependent on its reaction conditions.
