Allyl 2,2,2-trichloroacetimidate is the chemical compound with the formula CHCl=C(CH)COCl. It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. Allylation agents are used to prepare pharmaceutical preparations and are also used to produce anti-inflammatory drugs for treating inflammatory bowel disease. Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a strong acid that can be used to cleave esters from their carboxylic acids. TFA can also be used as a reagent for allylation reactions. The chloride ion in trifluoroacetic acid can be replaced by other anions (e.g., bromide, iodide). Carbonyl groups are reactive compounds that have a high affinity for oxygen atoms.
