The irreversible form is composed of a hydrolysis product, an anion, and organic compounds. 2-Methoxyethylsulfonyl chloride can be used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals or pharmaceuticals. It also has been shown to be an effective agent for the synthesis of carboxylic acids from alcohols.
