Przewaquinone A is a natural compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It has been found to be effective in inhibiting the growth of hepatocarcinoma cell lines and also inhibits the production of urea nitrogen. Przewaquinone A is extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza, which is a Chinese herb used for treating hepatitis. This compound can be prepared by high-performance liquid chromatography or preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with a magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) or chromatographic technique. Przewaquinone A also contains a hydroxyl group, which makes it an anti-inflammatory agent.
