Descrição:1-Phenylpropane-1-thiol is a thiol compound that can reversibly bind to disulphide bonds. It has been shown to have antimicrobial and anti-infective properties against bacteria, fungi, and viruses. The ethyl group on the 1-phenylpropane-1-thiol molecule allows it to be used as a coating for metals such as aluminum or stainless steel. This compound can also be used in the production of pharmaceuticals and other organic molecules. Biological properties of 1-phenylpropane-1-thiol include its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome and preventing peptide elongation. It is also active oxygen species with the ability to react with free radicals, including hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anions.
