Descrição:8-Bromo-3-methyl-7-(2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)-1H-purine-2,6(3H,7H)-dione is a glycidyl ester and alkylating agent that is used in the treatment of cancer. It is a prodrug that acts as a DNA crosslinker by reacting with DNA at the N7 position of guanine. This crosslink disrupts DNA replication and transcription and leads to cell death. 8-Bromo-3-methyl-7-(2 oxo 2 phenylethyl)-1H purine 2,6(3H,7H)-dione has been shown to be effective against myeloma cells but not against healthy cells.
