Borapetoside D is a natural product that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of jatrorrhizine-induced symptoms. It is a hydrophobic compound with a dose-dependent effect. Borapetoside D has been found to have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties, and it may be useful in the treatment of bacterial infections. Borapetoside D binds to and inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandin E2 by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and COX-2 enzymes. This compound also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are toxic to cells, by binding to ROS scavenging enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase.
