Triptocalline A is a chemical substance that has been isolated from the stem bark of Tripterygium wilfordii. It has shown significant cytotoxicity against cancer cells, as well as synergistic interactions with other substances, such as vitamin B12 and diterpenes. Triptocalline A is believed to have anti-cancer effects through the activation of Pi3K/Akt signaling pathway in mcf-7 cells. It also binds to a number of protein targets and its chemical diversity may be due to its ability to bind to different proteins. Triptocalline A has been shown to have beneficial effects on autoimmune diseases by suppressing the production of cytokines and reducing inflammation in mice.
