Descrição:4-Cyano-4-((phenylcarbonothioyl)thio)pentanoic acid (PCS) is a cytotoxic compound that inhibits the growth of tumor cells by binding to serine proteases. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of a serine protease, cathepsin B, in vitro and in vivo. PCS also binds to gold electrodes and can be used for the detection of sodium periodate, which is used for the treatment of cancer. This compound has a linear response over a wide range of concentrations and can be used for polymerization kinetics studies. PCS has shown promising antitumor activity against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo models.
