Lorcaserin is a serotonin 5-HT2C receptor agonist that is used to help with weight loss for obese patients. It is believed to be involved in the activation of 5-HT2C receptors in the anorexigenic pro-opiomelanocortin neurons. This results in decreased satiety and food intake.
