Leucovorin is a drug that is used to prevent or treat the toxicity of other cancer drugs. It prevents the formation of toxic compounds in the body by acting as a cofactor for enzymes that are involved in DNA synthesis. Leucovorin has been shown to be effective against bacteria and has minimal inhibitory concentrations against subtilis, cisplatin, and markers. Clinical response studies have shown that leucovorin can increase the effectiveness of cisplatin treatment when given with cisplatin. Leucovorin also has an antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
