• Descrição: Semaglutide is a peptide that is used as a pharmacological agent for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and other diseases and is also used for long-term weight management in obesity. It is an analogue of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and acts as a GLP-1 receptor agonist and inhibitor of the enzyme DPP-4, which is responsible for the degradation of GLP-1. As a result, semaglutide increases levels of GLP-1, which stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells. Semaglutide has been shown to reduce body weight, blood pressure and HbA1c levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, through its action to increase insulin production and inhibit the production of glucagon.
