Descrição:AB-001 is a small molecule that selectively binds to the CB2 receptor, a cannabinoid receptor that is found on immune cells and other tissues. This binding inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, which are molecules that promote inflammation. In vitro studies have shown that AB-001 inhibits enzyme activities involved in the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are molecules that promote inflammation. AB-001 has been shown to be effective against certain bacteria and fungi in animal models. Studies in mice have also shown that this drug can reduce body mass index (BMI) and improve locomotor activity by increasing energy expenditure. AB-001 has not been evaluated for its effects on humans with autoimmune diseases or inflammatory bowel disease.
