Dodecylamine Acetate is a cationic surfactant that is used as a corrosion inhibitor for metal. It has the ability to adsorb onto surfaces and form films, which protect the metal from exposure to corrosive environments. Dodecylamine Acetate is composed of a fatty acid ester with dodecylamine (a divalent hydrocarbon) and acetate ions. This compound is used in the manufacture of particle boards and other wood products, where it prevents the oxidation of wood by iron oxides. Dodecylamine Acetate also has an adsorption mechanism that prevents dehydration in ethylene diamine, which is used in textile production.
