Tetrakis(2-methoxyethyl) orthosilicate is a polymeric material that is soluble in water. Tetrakis(2-methoxyethyl) orthosilicate is used as a solvent for biopharmaceuticals and organic solvents. It can be used to regulate the pH of a solution, as well as act as a model compound for biomolecules. Tetrakis(2-methoxyethyl) orthosilicate has been used to produce microparticles which are then coated with proteins or other molecules. These particles have been shown to circulate through the bloodstream and serve as delivery vehicles for drugs or other therapeutic compounds.
