1-Cyclohexylprop-2-en-1-one is an organic compound with the formula CH3CH(CH2)CH2CHO. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethanol. 1-Cyclohexylprop-2-en-1-one has been used as a solvent for industrial processes, but also as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The reaction of this compound with chlorine yields chloroacetic acid, which can be used for the preparation of other organic compounds. 1-Cyclohexylprop-2-en-1-one has been shown to have inhibitory effects on biological properties such as hydroxy group, active methylene, molecule and chlorine atom. It reacts with water vapor to form alcohols, alkylthio groups and carbonyls. The reaction products are stabilized by the presence of a hydroxy group or alcohol group.
