The vibrational frequencies of 2-fluoro-4,6-dinitro phenol are found to be around 8,000 Hz at room temperature. The proton transfer theory was proposed to explain this phenomenon.
2-Fluoro-4,6-dinitro phenol is also used in thermodynamic studies where it is found that this compound has three parameters: frequency, intramolecular hydrogen bond, and intermolecular hydrogen bond.
