2,2-Dichloro-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethanone (DDD) is a chemical substance that inhibits the activity of transcriptional regulators. This substance binds to the primary site of DNA binding in the promoter region of genes and inhibits protein synthesis. It also has been shown to interact with other substances such as water vapor and fatty acids. DDD has been shown to cause cancer by inducing hypertrophy in cardiac muscle cells and insulin resistance. The risk of developing cancer is increased in people who are exposed to high levels of this chemical, such as those working in industries where it is used.
