Informação sobre produto
- 2,4,6-Trimethylbenzoic Acid, Methyl Ester
2,4,6-Trimethylbenzoate is a benzoic acid derivative that is used as a precursor to ethyl 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoate. It undergoes hydrolysis in water and has an activation energy of 60.5 kJ/mol. The deuterium isotope effect can be seen by the rate of reaction slowing when the trifluoromethyl group is substituted with a hydrogen atom. This difference in rate is due to the greater electron density on the heavier isotope and its greater ability to stabilize the transition state. The carboxylic acid group enhances the reaction by donating hydrogen ions and chloride ions or hydroxide ions as reactants. The constant for this reaction is 1.0 x 10^7 M-1s-1 at 25 degrees Celsius.
