Informação sobre produto
- 4-Phenoxy-n-butyric acid ethyl ester
- Ethyl 4-Phenoxybutanoate
Ethyl 4-phenoxybutyrate (EPB) is a chemical compound that is synthesized by the reaction of phenol with butyric acid. It is a water-soluble, anionic, ester and can be used as an antidote for preventing bacterial infections. The bioavailability of EPB has been shown to be high in E. coli cells, but low in other types of cells. EPB binds to DNA and prevents transcription, leading to cell death by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. This drug also has the ability to form adducts with amino acids such as cysteine, tyrosine, tryptophan, and methionine. These adducts may have functionalized properties in terms of antimicrobial activity against bacteria like E. coli.
