Methyl 5-hexenoate has been shown to have a magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) signal at 3.2 ppm and a carbonyl group in its chemical structure. The reaction product can be detected by MRS because it absorbs electromagnetic radiation at this frequency range.
