• Descrição: 3-Hydroxyoctadecanoic acid is a fatty acid ester that is found in the fruit of the cherry tree, or cerasus. 3-Hydroxyoctadecanoic acid has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on cells, and is an effective antibacterial agent against Staphylococcus epidermidis. This compound has also been shown to inhibit the growth of other bacteria, including E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The cytotoxic effects of 3-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid may be due to its ability to inhibit telomerase activity in lung fibroblasts.
