• Descrição: Siastatin B is a peptide that can be used as a research tool for studying protein interactions. It has been shown to be an activator of ligand-gated ion channels, such as nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and glutamate receptors. Siastatin B also binds to the neurotoxin receptor, which leads to the inhibition of the binding of neurotoxins to this receptor. The inhibitory activity of siastatin B is reversible and competitive with respect to the neurotoxin receptor. Siastatin B also inhibits cell proliferation at high concentrations.
