5-Methyl-2-phenylpyridine is a phenylpyridine derivative that is used as a ligand in coordination chemistry. This compound has photophysical properties that are sensitive to pH and metal ion concentration, which can be modified by changing the solvent or adding additives like formaldehyde or zeolites. 5-Methyl-2-phenylpyridine is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of other compounds.
