4-Acetamidocyclohexanol is a synthetic organic compound that has been shown to have a high degree of stereoselectivity. The reaction can be carried out in particle form or in the presence of a solid catalyst. It converts urea into cyclohexanol with a reaction time of less than 30 minutes. This product also has selectivities towards acidic, ring-containing, and electron-rich substrates. 4-Acetamidocyclohexanol is an isomer of cyclohexanol and reacts with nucleotide phosphate to form an acetylated nucleotide phosphate intermediate. This intermediate reacts with an alcohol molecule to form acetamidocyclohexane as well as another byproduct.
