This product can be synthesized from diethylaminomethyl azide, which reacts with cyclopentanone to produce the desired product in equatorial orientation. 2-Bromo-4-methylcyclohexan-1-one has antiproliferative effects on some mammalian cells, such as human fibroblasts, and can be used as an antitumor agent.
