Descrição

Probenazole is a fungicide that has been reported to have bactericidal properties. It inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the polymerase chain and signal pathways, which are required for transcription and replication. Probenazole can be used as an analytical method for pesticides or antimicrobial agents in wastewater treatment plants because it is not toxic to humans. It is also used in vitro as a control for hydrochloric acid, pH, and enzyme activities. Probenazole is a potent inhibitor of soybean lipoxygenase, which leads to its use as an analytical method for pesticides or antimicrobial agents in wastewater treatment plants. The prodrug form of probenazole binds to the α-subunit of bacterial DNA gyrase, thereby inhibiting bacterial growth and causing cell death through DNA damage.
