2,2',3,3',4,4',5,6-Octachlorobiphenyl is a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) that is used as a solvent. It is transported from the liver to other tissues at a rate of 0.0027 micrograms per milligram of tissue per day. The highest concentrations of PCBs in tissues are found in adipose tissue and the brain. 2,2',3,3',4,4',5,6-Octachlorobiphenyl has been shown to cause fatty acid accumulation and tissue damage in Sprague-Dawley rats. These effects were most pronounced in animals with high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). 2,2',3,3',4,4',5,6-Octachlorobiphenyl caused an increase in lipid peroxidation products and decreased the activity of antioxidant enzymes in rats that were fed PUFA for two
