Descrição:CGP-53716 is a small-molecule drug that binds to and inhibits the activity of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), which is a mitogen for cells. CGP-53716 has been shown to reduce inflammatory lesions in animals, including retinopathies, following balloon injury and cardiac infarction. It also has anti-inflammatory properties in animals with hepatic impairment. The most significant effect of CGP-53716 was seen in an animal model where it reduced the severity of liver injury and prevented death. CGP-53716 also has effects on stem cell factor (SCF) and other cytokines, but its mechanism of action is not yet known.
