(3,5-Dibromo-4-hydroxyphenyl)(2-ethyl-6-hydroxybenzofuran-3-yl)methanone is a life threatening drug that inhibits the uptake of drugs into the renal proximal tubule cells. This drug inhibits the enzyme dehydrogenase and causes a deficiency in proximal tubule cells. Pharmacological treatments for this disease include inhibitors of the uptake of drugs into renal proximal tubules. These treatments include amiloride, triamterene, or spironolactone.
