CHIR-98014 is a small molecule that functions as a transcriptional regulator. It is able to induce the expression of hepatocyte-like genes in pluripotent cells, such as embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. CHIR-98014 has been shown to regulate the activities of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and signal pathways, which are involved in regulating gene expression. This drug has also been shown to promote cellular differentiation, leading to increased levels of PGE2 in hepatocyte-like cells. The activity of CHIR-98014 is mediated by its ability to bind and activate response elements on DNA.
