3-Iodophenyl Isothiocyanate is a reactive molecule that has been used to produce radionuclides for cancer imaging. It is also known as 3-iodo-3'-deoxyuridine and reacts with cetuximab, a chimeric monoclonal antibody, to form an immunoconjugate. The linker of the immunoconjugate is composed of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and an amino acid residue. This linker can be cleaved by hydroxyl radicals, which are generated during radiation therapy. 3-Iodophenyl Isothiocyanate can be used in tumor xenografts or in immunohistochemical assays for quantification of the receptor factor that binds to growth factors or monoclonal antibodies.
