Apigenin triacetate is a flavonoid that has been shown to have anticancer activity. Apigenin triacetate has been shown to be synergistic with other anticancer drugs in the treatment of both cancer cells and tumor-bearing mice. Apigenin triacetate inhibits the growth of mycobacterium tuberculosis and apigenin is also effective against skin injury caused by ultraviolet radiation, leading to its use as an industrial chemical for the treatment of skin diseases. Apigenin triacetate has also been shown to have neuroprotective properties in animal models of neurodegenerative disease.
