6-Hydroxy-2,6-dimethyl-2,7-octadienoic acid is an isomer of 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid. It is a carbonyl compound that has been shown to be cytotoxic when administered to fibrosarcoma cells in vitro. 6-Hydroxy-2,6-dimethyl-2,7-octadienoic acid has also been found to have significant cytotoxicity against other types of cancer cells. This compound was isolated from the plant species "Peltophorum pterocarpum" and purified by chromatography on silica gel and alumina column chromatography.
