2-Pyridin-2-ylsulfanyl-acetic acid ethyl ester is a benzyl ester that can be used as a polymerization initiator. It is used in the production of polyurethane and polyester. 2-Pyridin-2-ylsulfanyl-acetic acid ethyl ester is also an alkylating agent that can form covalent bonds with nucleophilic groups on other molecules. This product is soluble in water and methanol, but insoluble in ether and chloroform. Its chemical formula is C6H5SO2COC6H5.
