• Descrição: Cyclohexylheptyl b-D-maltoside is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial that inhibits the growth of human pathogens and some cancers. It has been shown to bind to the active site of the enzyme DNA methyltransferase, thereby inhibiting DNA methylation. Cyclohexylheptyl b-D-maltoside also binds to basic fibroblast cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis by preventing RNA polymerase from binding to ribosomes. Cyclohexylheptyl b-D-malto sugar also has an effect on human serum albumin, with x-ray diffraction data showing that it binds reversibly in a 1:1 stoichiometric ratio.
