3,4²-Dihydroxypropiophenone is a phenol derivative that has been found to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It was isolated from human lung tissue and found to have an inhibitory effect on cancer cell lines. The inhibitory effects of 3,4²-Dihydroxypropiophenone are due to its ability to reduce the activity of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is an important intermediate in the synthesis of DNA and RNA. In addition, the compound was shown to be effective against human lung cancer A549 cells in vitro.
