Dezocine is a glycol ester of an opioid drug, used for postoperative pain relief. It has been shown to be effective in low-dose groups for cancer patients. Dezocine produces analgesia by acting at the receptors in the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. The drug has also been found to have a potent matrix effect which can cause anesthesia, but this effect is not consistent and may depend on the type of surgery. Dezocine is metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and can interact with other drugs that are metabolized through this pathway, such as antidepressants or benzodiazepines. This drug is also available in an injection solution form.
