Descrição:DASA-58 is an experimental drug that is used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and cancer. It is a benzimidazole compound that inhibits the function of DNA polymerase, mitochondrial membrane potential, and mitochondrial ATP production. DASA-58 has been shown to be effective in reducing the size of metastatic colorectal cancer tumors in mice by decreasing the energy metabolism of cancer cells. This drug also has anti-tumor effects on malignant brain tissue in experimental models. DASA-58 inhibits proliferation and migration of epithelial cells by blocking the epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT). DASA-58 also has eye protecting effects; it can prevent damage to retinal neurons caused by oxidative stress.
