Ethyl pyruvate is a novel anti-inflammatory agent for the treatment of critical inflammatory conditions as it has potent anti-inflammatory properties and tissue protection activity, in multiple animal models of disease including: pancreatitis, ischemia-reperfusion injury, sepsis, renal injury, and endotoxemia.
