1-Acetylpyrrolidine is an amide proton that is used in pharmaceutical preparations. It has a hydroxyl group, which can form hydrogen bonds with other molecules in the body. 1-Acetylpyrrolidine has been shown to have receptor activity and therefore may be able to lower insulin resistance. 1-Acetylpyrrolidine also has antidiabetic properties and is used for treatment of diabetic neuropathy. This drug exhibits pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of benzimidazole derivatives, such as improved oral bioavailability and reduced toxicity.
