5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl a-D-maltotrioside is an enzyme substrate that shows chemiluminescence. It is used in diagnostic assays to detect bacterial and fungal infections, as well as other diseases. The test uses 5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl a-D-maltotrioside as the substrate for the enzyme horseradish peroxidase. When light is applied, the substrate reacts with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of horseradish peroxidase to form colored products that can be detected by a luminometer.
