Descrição

R(+)-IAA-94 is a cytosolic Ca2+ channel blocker that inhibits the voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels in cardiac and smooth muscle cells. It has been shown to reduce the number of Ca2+ channels, leading to reduced intracellular Ca2+, which in turn decreases the mitochondrial membrane potential and leads to cell lysis. R(+)-IAA-94 has also been shown to be effective against congestive heart failure, myocardial infarct, and other cardiovascular disorders. The effects of this drug are mediated through inhibition of voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels and have been shown to work in a model system using t84 cells. This drug is an analogue of iaa-94, which blocks chloride channels and activates KCa3.1 channels.
