N6-Propyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-1,3-benzothiazole-2,6-diamine (NPTB) is a diaminotetralin that has been shown to reduce the symptoms of idiopathic urticaria in humans. In animal models it has been shown to inhibit the production of eosinophil peroxidase and dopamine. NPTB also has a neuroprotective effect on dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta by inhibiting neuronal death induced by 6-hydroxydopamine. NPTB also acts as an antagonist at D(1A), D(2), and D(4) receptors and as an agonist at D(3) receptors. It binds to presynaptic dopamine autoreceptors and blocks the release of dopamine from nerve terminals in the central nervous system. NPTB has no adverse
